In the ongoing 14th Karnataka State Shooting (Trap and Skeet) Competition and Championship 2026, being conducted under the aegis of the Karnataka State Rifle Association (KSRA) at the SAI Skeet and Trap Shooting Range in Bengaluru, Karthamada Navin Bopaiah, representing the Coorg Rifle Association (CRA), secured a gold medal in the National Rules (NR) Masters category and bronze medals in the NR Men’s and Team Trap events.

With this achievement, Navin Bopaiah has successfully retained his gold medal in the NR Masters category.
He has also qualified to participate in the South Zone Championship, scheduled to be held in August 2026. Should he attain the requisite scores at the South Zone meet, he will earn qualification to represent the region at the National Championships.
Should he qualify for the National Championships and achieve the prescribed scores, he will be classified as an ISSF shooter by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF).

Well done Mr. Navin Bopaiah. You should encourage, train and mentor Kodava youngsters with potential. Apparently, KALS in Gonikoppal has good facilities and encourages youngsters. What is the status of The Coorg Rifle Association – after all the hockey that we play in Kodagu, our representation at the National level in recent times is at best mediocre. Rifle shooting seems to present humungous opportunities!
