Three rowdy sheeters from Kodagu district have been arrested under the Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act (KCOCA), District Superintendent of Police R.N. Bindumani said.
Addressing a press conference at the District Police Administration Building, the SP said that Pramod alias Disk of Gowli Bedi in Madikeri, Darshan alias Gilli of Kushalnagar and Sharif have been booked under the Act.
According to the SP, Pramod alias Disk has 18 criminal cases registered against him, while Darshan alias Gilli faces nine cases. Both are involved in nine organised crime cases. Sharif, who has been on the rowdy sheeter list for the past ten years, has 11 cases registered against him at the Rural Police Station. He stated that all three accused have been remanded to judicial custody and that further investigation under the COCA Act will be carried out by officers of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police.
215 NDPS Cases Registered
The SP further informed that as of May 31, 2026, a total of 27 kilograms of ganja and 46 grams of synthetic drugs had been seized in Kodagu district. She also said that 215 cases have been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and that 38 peddlers have been implicated in these cases. Appropriate legal action has been initiated against them.
Ashraf, a resident of Napoklu, who was involved in six cases relating to synthetic drugs between 2018 and 2025, has been arrested under the Preventive Detention provisions of the NDPS Act and lodged in Ballari Jail.
Similarly, Naufal, a resident of Madikeri, against whom eight NDPS cases have been registered between 2019 and 2026 in Kodagu, Bengaluru and other places, has also been detained under the preventive detention provisions of the NDPS Act and shifted to Kalaburagi Jail, SP Bindumani said.
