Appachangada B. Belliappa, a marathon runner from Kodagu, represented India in the marathon competition of 42.195 km. held at Vienna of Austria.

Two Indians are competing in the marathon event. One is Belliappa and another is Mansingh from Uttarakhand. 40 thousand runners from all over the world participated in this marathon and those who showed good performance are selected for the Paris Olympics. 

In this marathon, 50 years ago Shivnath Singh of Punjab set a record by covering a distance of 42.195 km in 2 hours 11 minutes 59 seconds.
