Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya emphasised that women must prioritise their health for the well-being of families and society.
She was speaking at a cancer screening camp and awareness programmeorganised by the Indian Red Cross Society, Kodagu unit, at Redbricks Inn in Madikeri in connection with International Women’s Day.
Aishwarya said women play a crucial role in family management and that a healthy mother ensures the well-being of the entire family.

She pointed out that pollution and unhealthy food habits in modern life can affect health and advised people to consume clean drinking water and home-cooked food.
Former Legislative Council member Veena Achaiah, Women and Child Development Department Deputy Director Prasanna Kumar, film producer Kottukottira Yashodha Prakash and Municipal Council President P. Kalavathi also addressed the gathering.
Red Cross District President B.K. Ravindra Rai highlighted the organisation’s 74-year service in Kodagu and its contributions during emergencies and disasters.

National award-winning producer Kottukottira Yashodha Prakash was felicitated on the occasion. Fifteen Anganwadi workers and helpers from Madikeri taluk were also honoured.
Around 460 women participated in the programme and benefited from the cancer screening camp conducted by expert doctors.
