A complaint has been submitted to the District Superintendent of Police by the Madikeri City BJP Mahila Morcha seeking action against alleged false accusations made on social media against former Assembly Speaker and former MLA K.G. Bopaiah.
It is alleged that in a Kodagu District Mahila Congress WhatsApp group, administered by G.R. Pushpalatha of Gummanakolli in Kushalnagar, B.G. Sunitha of Theralu village in Ponnampet taluk made baseless allegations on February 27 in connection with the assault incident that took place in Napoklu.
The message was reportedly forwarded in a group named Hakattoor Zone 03 Booth by the wife of a person named Bhishma. It was also alleged that false claims were made stating that the sitting MLA was not helping Ismail and that the matter had been shared with K.G. Bopaiah. The complaint urged the police to identify those spreading such false allegations and attempting to create caste and communal discord in the district, and to take appropriate legal action.
Those present while submitting the complaint included Mahila Morcha City President Soumya, District President Anita Poovayya, Secretary Kannike, City Secretary Navya, BJP District Spokesperson Mahesh Jain, and others including Shantheyanda Ravi Kushalappa, Nagesh Kundalpadi, B.K. Jagadish, Arun Shetty, Gajendra, Poonacha, Ajith Nanaiah, B.A. Harish, Kangira Ashwin, and Tekkade Shobha.
