Neethu Thammaiah represented India in the ATF Asian Throwball Championship 2026

Neethu Thammaiah, daughter of national athlete and middle- and long-distance runner Kalachanda Ravi Thammaiah and Tiny who is  currently pursuing her second-year degree at Mount Carmel College, Bangalore recently had the honor of representing India in the ATF Asian Throwball Championship 2026, which was held on 12th February 2026 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

A total of ten girls represented India, and teams from India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia participated in the tournament. It is proud and notable that both the Indian girls’ and boys’ teams won the championship.

This is Neethu Thammaiah’s, second international representation and first international tournament was held last year in Malaysia, where the Indian team won the championship and secured the gold medal.

In addition to this, Neethu was also a 400-metre gold medallist at the Bangalore City University Athletic Meet.

After returning to India, some team members had the opportunity to meet the Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka,  Siddaramaiah, and share their  achievements with him.
