The Samagama summer camp at Kodagu Vidyalaya (KV), Madikeri, ignited with excitement during its vibrant inauguration ceremony. Guided by the esteemed presence of Kodagu Vidyalaya’s sports president, Kodimaniyanda Raghu Madappa, students engaged enthusiastically, buoyed by the lively performance from Kodagu Vidyalaya school’s band troop.
The symbolic release of colorful balloons by Chief Guest Kodimadiyanda Raghu Madappa marked the official start of the program, symbolizing the commencement of a journey teeming with learning and adventure. School officials and committee members underscored the pivotal role of sports facilities in fostering discipline and holistic development among students.
The inauguration unfolded with a paint stroke by Chief Guest and transformed artistically as Pradeep and Pavan, distinguished artists, crafted a live canvas painting, complemented by live calligraphy from the talented Mamatha Shastri. Beautiful classical dance by Roja, a dedicated dance guru, added to the enchanting atmosphere.
Following this, Renn Trever Dais, a dedicated cricket coach, sports psychologist, and professor at Manipal University, delivered an inspiring speech, setting the tone for the camp’s motivational ambiance. Niyata Deviah, a respected member of the school committee, amplified the excitement by inaugurating the summer sports camp.
Approximately 250 eager campers immersed themselves in a myriad of activities, including traditional and contemporary art forms like painting, dance, and music, alongside engaging in various sports and recreational games. With enriching activities scheduled until May 1st, the Samagama summer camp promises a holistic experience, offering ample opportunities for skill development, creative expression, and the nurturing of lasting bonds.
Camp is being conducted for various streams including Instrumental music, Kids fest, Robotics, Chess, Table tennis, Art and craft, Calligraphy, Bharatanatya, Mohiniatam, Freestyle Dance, Cricket, Hand ball, Hockey, Athletics and Basketball. Around 267 students are participating in all these events.
Arun, an NIS certified coach with a Diploma in Sports Coaching from NSSC Bengaluru, brings expertise and dedication, having coached university and state teams to success, including guiding the sub-junior Karnataka boys’ team to a gold medal.Â
Avaremadanda G Kushalappa, a hockey stalwart with a background in the Army Ordnance Corps, excels in state and national-level hockey camps, embodying perseverance and dedication.Â
C.Mahesh born in 1972, studied at Sheshadripuram High School and graduated in commerce from Bangalore University in the year 1993. Served as Rotaract president in the year 1997. Cricket has been a passion right from primary school days, which later made him take up umpiring as a full-time profession from the year 2006. He qualified as a state umpire from KSCA in the year 2008 and cleared Level -1 BCCI exam in the year 2011. Along with umpiring, he is a full-time coach at Kapil Cricket Club since 2010. His passion for cricket is striving to make players from Karnataka play at the highest level in the country.
Renn Trevor Dais, a cricket coach, a Centre Head for the Sports Management and a professor at Manipal University brings a wealth of experience, coaching under-14, under-16, and under-19 teams in the Mangalore zone and recognized as a top researcher in sports psychology.Â
Royal Jojo, born in Ponnampet, showcases remarkable talent in basketball currently making waves in the Mysuru club scene.
Chikkanna, (BPED, MPED) excelling in Handball at various National levels, also earns accolades in Netball and Softball, showcasing his versatility in sports.
Rachan Ponnappa, the President and Secretary of District Table Tennis Association and an exceptional table tennis player, embodies the spirit of continuous improvement, representing Kodagu at the state level.Â
A.M. Christopher, served as a coach for Kodagu team. He is currently serving as the Vice President of Kodagu District Football Association and President and coach of M.C.C ,Madikeri. His passion for sports, leads teams to victory and serves in significant positions in sports associations, demonstrating his dedication.Â
Reshma K Devaiah, from her early education to her LLB from Bengaluru Law College, her journey exemplifies dedication. With numerous athletic achievements, including gold medals in shot put, javelin throw and discus throw at the Karnataka State Masters Athletics Championship 2022, she continues to inspire as an athletic coach at Kodagu Vidyalaya.
N T Shankaranarayana, a seasoned chess enthusiast and banker, brings excellence and a love for trekking.
Mamatha Shastri currently working as a productive assistant at Akashvani is dedicated to calligraphy and teaching, inspires with her passion for sharing knowledge. Pradeep (Bachelorof Fine Arts, Bachelorof Visual Arts), a talented artist, showcases versatility and creativity in prestigious exhibitions and solo shows.
Pawan Kumar P L, (Bachelor of Visual Arts, Master of Visual Art)has performed one man shows at high level events, an accomplished artist, contributes to various exhibitions and events, showcasing his dedication to the art community.
Prasannakumar, an art teacher at Kodagu Vidyalaya since 1986, has led children’s summer camps for 18 years and participated in events like “Jamboori” at Karnataka Lalitha Kala Academy. He’s also been honored by institutions like Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Bangalore and Kote Mahaganapati Dasara Samiti Madikeri, while conducting art training and exhibitions at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kodagu center for 12 years, with his students excelling at state and national levels.
Franco, currently working as a musician at the prestigious Club Mahindra, having 45 years of experience in Indian and Western classical music, trains musicians across genres and fosters young talent. His music can be melodiously heard in Begali, Oriya, Assamee and Bollywood movies.
Abhishek, a dedicated choreographer, at Natyakala Dance Studio, Madikeri, leads students to success in Western and Contemporary dance, winning numerous awards and national gold medals.
