Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Venkat Raja after presiding over the progress review meeting on drinking water supply which was held at the hall of the District Administration Building suggested that the authorities should realize the seriousness of the drinking water problem in the district and give priority to supply adequate drinking water to the common people and gave appropriate directions to the concerned officials. DC also advised the task force committee to hold meetings at taluk level for drinking water supply in urban and rural areas of the district.Â
Speaking further he said that the authorities should respond immediately and find a suitable solution to the problem so that the problem of drinking water does not escalate. Due to lack of rain, there is shortage of drinking water in some villages of the district and officials should go to those villages and make necessary preparations for supply of water.
He also informed that the villages which are facing drinking water problem in the district water should be supplied through tankers. Local level authorities should take necessary steps in this regard, he added.  Â
DC also informed the Officers/Staff appointed for the election shall follow the guidelines issued by the Election Commission from time to time and warned that dereliction of duty cannot be tolerated for any reason.
ZP Chief Executive Officer Varnith Negi, Additional Deputy Commissioner B N Veena, Assistant commissioner Vinayaka Narwade, district level and taluk level officials, Tahsildars of respective taluks, T. P. Executive officers, heads of local organizations were present on the occasion.
