Constitution Day Observed in Kodagu

The Kodagu District Administration, Zilla Panchayat and Social Welfare Department jointly observed Constitution Day at Gandhi Bhavan, Madikeri.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja said the Constitution authored by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is the backbone of Indian democracy, safeguarding freedom, equality and social justice. He emphasised that every citizen must uphold constitutional values and fulfil their duties along with enjoying their fundamental rights.

Dalit Sangharsh Samiti leader Deepak Ponnappa delivered a detailed address on the history of the Constituent Assembly and Ambedkar’s contribution.

Various competitions were held to mark the occasion, and winners were awarded cash prizes of Rs 25,000, Rs15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively through RTGS.

A student rally from Gandhi Maidan to Gandhi Bhavan, featuring cultural displays, NCC/NSS participants and slogans on constitutional values, drew public attention.
