The incident occurred when the worker, identified as Hanumantha (57), was engaged in routine work in the plantation. A wild elephant suddenly appeared and attacked him, resulting in his death. Another worker who was present narrowly escaped.

Forest Department officials and staff visited the spot following the incident. The tragic event has sparked outrage against the department, with several local leaders alleging negligence. Former Zilla Panchayat member Mookonda Viju Subramani blamed the government and the forest department for their failure to control the wild elephant menace.
