A two-day Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive of the electoral rolls was conducted across Kodagu district with the objective of making the voter lists more accurate and updated.
District Electoral Officer and Deputy Commissioner S.J. Somashekhar visited polling stations in Makeeri, Talath Mane, Katakeri, Kadagadalu and other villages in the 208-Madikeri and 209-Virajpet Assembly constituencies on Sunday and reviewed the arrangements.
The special revision exercise was conducted on September 19 and 20 as per the directions of the Election Commission.
Somashekhar said the two-day special drive was organised to enable eligible citizens of Kodagu to make use of the opportunity to verify and update their electoral details. During the drive, citizens were provided facilities to submit Form 6 for inclusion of new names in the electoral roll, Form 6A for registration of overseas Indian voters, Form 7 for deletion of names or filing objections, and Form 8 for corrections in electoral details, change of address and other modifications, including voter ID-related changes.
Eligible voters were also encouraged to verify whether their names were included in the electoral roll and submit applications for corrections in case of discrepancies.Voters could also access the required services through the Voter Helpline app and the Election Commission’s official website, voters.eci.gov.in.
Somashekhar said the special electoral roll revision drive had received a good response across the district.
