Boppanda Diya Bheemaiah has been selected to represent India at the BWF World Junior Badminton Championships 2026, to be held in Cairo, Egypt, from October 5 to 17.
Diya secured her place in the Indian squad following an impressive performance at the selection trials held at the National Centre of Excellence (NCE) Badminton Academy from September 18 to 21.
Partnering Haryana’s Baruni Parshwal in the trials, Diya delivered a strong performance to claim the available spot in the junior doubles squad. She is currently ranked No. 1 in India in junior doubles.
The selection marks another significant achievement in Diya’s growing international career. Earlier this year, she was selected to represent India at the Asian Championships in Japan, besides competing in the Dutch and German Junior Internationals.
Diya is currently undergoing training at the Badminton Association of India’s National Centre of Excellence in Guwahati.
Her selection for the World Junior Championships in Cairo adds another major international assignment to an already eventful year for the young shuttler.
