Logo of tournament unveiled at Ponnampet
The logo of the state-level journalists’ cricket tournament, to be organised in Madikeri on November 2 and 3 by the Kodagu District Working Journalists’ Association, was unveiled by Republic Network President Cheranda Kishan Madappa.
Speaking after unveiling the logo at a private club in Ponnampet, Kishan Madappa said it was encouraging to see journalists from Kodagu organising various sporting events and coming together as a group.
He said he was aware that several sporting events had been organised by journalists in the past. The enthusiasm being shown towards sporting activities through the state-level cricket tournament was commendable, he said, adding that necessary assistance would be extended to encourage the event.
Kodagu District Working Journalists’ Association president Bacharaniyanda Anu Cariappa said preparations were under way to organise the tournament with teams from various districts of Karnataka. Teams comprising more than 20 journalists each are expected to participate, and the cooperation of everyone would be essential for the successful conduct of the tournament, he said. .
Karnataka Working Journalists’ Association vice-president Ajjamada Ramesh Kuttappa said it was a matter of pride that the Kodagu District Working Journalists’ Association was hosting the state-level cricket tournament for the second time. The tournament would provide an opportunity for journalists from other districts to learn more about Kodagu and would also help strengthen camaraderie among journalists, he said.
Association national committee member Paleyanda Partha Chinnappa, sports committee convener Santosh Rai, Ponnampet Taluk Working Journalists’ Association president Sannuvanda Kishore Nachappa, Virajpet taluk president Rejith Kumar Guhya and Somwarpet taluk president Vishwa Kumburu were among those present at the logo launch.
Kishore Rai Kathalekadu compered the programme. Singi Satish welcomed the gathering, while Subramani proposed a vote of thanks.
