Administrative approval has been granted for the revised estimated project to provide sewerage facilities in Kushalnagar town, with sewerage connections now permitted in several layouts and residential areas.

Under the project, a 76-km sewerage network has been laid covering the former Kushalnagar Town Panchayat area, Mullusoge village and parts of Gummanakolli. Two wet wells have been constructed behind the KSRTC bus stand and near the old market, along with pumping machinery, a 4.5-million-litre-capacity sewage treatment plant and rising pipelines connecting the wet wells to the treatment plant.

Households and commercial establishments in several areas can now obtain sewerage connections. The facility will also cover sections of Hassan Road, Rathabeedi, the area from Ganapathi Temple to Koppa Gate, and stretches along the Mani-Mysuru-Bengaluru Road.

Residents under Kushalnagar Municipality jurisdiction have been advised to discharge wastewater from toilets, bathrooms and kitchens only into the sewerage system. Property owners must install the required internal pipelines and junction chamber and connect them to the main chamber provided by the board.

Owners must obtain a no-objection certificate from the Chief Officer of Kushalnagar Municipality and submit it to the board, following which an authorised plumber will carry out the connection.

The connection must be installed at the owner’s expense and under the supervision of the board. Residents have been cautioned against using unauthorised plumbers.

For further information, the Kushalnagar Water Supply Management Office, near Nirikshan Mandir, may be contacted at 08276-200662, said Kushalnagar Municipality Chief Officer Girish.
