Amid the ongoing Cauvery water-sharing dispute, Rajajinagar MLA and former Minister S. Suresh Kumar performed a special puja at Talakaveri recently.
Suresh Kumar, who arrived in Talakaveri, along with workers from Rajajinagar constituency, bowed down to the Cauvery and prayed for the prosperity of the country. Speaking on the occasion, he said that last year, the KRS was filled with more than 100 feet of water three times during this period. But this time there was no rain on time and there was an atmosphere of anxiety. So, if the dam is filled, I thought I would thank the Cauvery on behalf of the people of Bengaluru. For the past few days, there has been good rain in the Cauvery river and the anxiety has gone away. Therefore, I have fulfilled that vow by coming to the constituency today, he said.

“If it rains in Kodagu and the Cauvery flows abundantly from here, people in Mysuru, Mandya and Bengaluru will be able to live peacefully. However, the people of Kodagu face various problems during the monsoon. The people of Mandya, Mysuru and Bengaluru should therefore remain grateful to Kodagu and the Cauvery. As an ordinary citizen, I consider it my duty to acknowledge this,” he said.
Kodagu Development Authority is needed: “I witnessed the natural disaster in Kodagu in 2018. The devastation and casualties of that period are still vivid in our minds. Kodagu should not be allowed to suffer land degradation for any reason. Its natural beauty should not become a curse for the district. Wealthy investors should not be allowed to destroy nature and establish resort-oriented industries here. Careful steps must be taken in this regard,” he said.
“Steps should be taken to ensure development alongside activities that are in harmony with nature. Therefore, a special package should be announced for Kodagu district. In addition, many people have demanded the formation of a Kodagu Development Authority. I will discuss this issue with the concerned persons and also raise it in the House,” he said.
Earlier, he offered special prayers at Bhagandeshwara Temple in Bhagamandala.Green City Forum founder Cheeyanda Satya Ganapathy, member Kishore Rai, and prominent members were present on the occasion.
