Neighbour Who Went to Rescue also falls into the pit
Nitya (47) of Hosathota in Aiguru village and Janardhan (47) of Hosathota died while being taken to the Madikeri District Government Hospital after receiving first aid at Madapura.
Madikeri MLA Dr. Manthar Gowda visited the District Government Hospital and consoled the families of the deceased.
The MLA assured the families that appropriate compensation would be provided by the government.
District Surgeon Dr. Somashekar and Dr. Nanjunda were present.
The deceased, Janardhan and Nitya, were neighbours.
Nitya was reportedly walking towards an old toilet pit near the house in the evening when the pit suddenly collapsed.
Janardhan, a neighbour who rushed to rescue Nitya, entered the pit. At that time, both of them suffocated and stopped breathing due to toxic gas that had accumulated inside the pit.
