The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, as directed by the Election Commission of India (ECI), is currently underway across the district. D C S.J. Somashekar stated that census forms have already been distributed to 100 per cent of the eligible voters, and appealed to the public and political parties to extend their cooperation in ensuring that the digitisation of these forms also reaches 100 per cent.
He was speaking at a meeting with leaders of various political parties held at the District Collector’s office in Madikeri.
The Election Commission has fixed August 8 as the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll. The District Collector urged all eligible voters to make use of this opportunity and emphasised that no eligible voter should be left out of the revision process.
Although the distribution of census forms has already been completed, he said that if any voter has not received a form, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) should ensure that it is made available and take the necessary steps to include every eligible voter in the Special Intensive Revision. He also appealed to leaders of political parties to create awareness among the public in their respective areas.There is a total of 552 polling booths across the Madikeri and Virajpet Assembly constituencies. Booth Level Officers are visiting households and distributing census forms to voters.
The DC requested political party leaders to monitor the process and extend their cooperation. He further stated that the completed census forms collected from voters would be digitised through the BLO App.”If there are any discrepancies, the information should be brought to our notice so that necessary corrections can be made,” the DC said. The district has a total of 4,68,657 voters across the two Assembly constituencies. Census forms have already been distributed to all eligible voters. So far, the digitisation process has been completed for 3,04,805 voters, representing 65.65 per cent progress. The DC appealed to political parties to cooperate in achieving complete digitisation of the remaining forms.
He stressed that no eligible voter should be excluded from the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll. In this regard, every voter should visit their respective polling station, obtain the required information from the Booth Level Officer and extend full cooperation to ensure the successful completion of the SIR process.
Regarding the revision process, the Deputy Commissioner also advised voters not to be confused about their part numbers or other electoral details. Instead, they should verify the information with their respective polling station officials and furnish the required details accurately.
A D C Sahana S. Hadimani said that the distribution of census forms had reached 100 per cent and that the digitisation process was progressing steadily. She appealed to political party leaders to cooperate in ensuring the successful completion of the Special Intensive Revision.
She also stated that awareness programmes are being conducted through various local bodies to educate voters about the revision process and urged the public to actively participate in these programmes.
She added that awareness campaigns are being organised at all levels, including Gram Panchayats, Town Panchayats, Municipalities and City Municipal Councils.
AC Nitin Chakki said that the Madikeri Assembly constituency has 275 polling booths, where census forms have been distributed to 2,38,447 voters. Of these, forms relating to 1,51,768 voters have already been digitised, achieving 63 per cent progress.
Manjunath, Electoral Registration Officer and Project Director of the District Urban Development Cell, said that the Virajpet Assembly constituency has 277 polling booths, with census forms distributed to 2,30,210 voters. The digitisation of forms belonging to 1,54,323 voters has already been completed.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sajil Krishna and Janata Dal (Secular) leader Gulabi Janardhan said that awareness was being created at their respective levels regarding the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll, while ensuring that no eligible voter was left out of the electoral roll.
