Codava National Council (CNC) President N.U. Nachappa met KPCC President and Member of the Legislative Council B.K. Hariprasad to discuss the long-standing demand for Kodavaland Geo-Political Autonomy.
During the meeting, Nachappa explained that the CNC has been pursuing a peaceful and sustained movement seeking geo-political autonomy and self-governance for the Kodava community. He highlighted the need to safeguard ancestral lands, water bodies, traditional cultural sites such as Mand and Devarakadu, and to ensure adequate political representation for the indigenous Kodava people.
Nachappa also drew attention to what he described as the increasing conversion of agricultural land, alleged land grabbing by resort and township developers from outside the district, displacement of the indigenous population, the Malm Kund issue, and the weakening of indigenous land rights following amendments to land laws.
Responding to the representation, B.K. Hariprasad assured the delegation that he would study the constitutional and legal aspects of the CNC’s demands and extend support within the framework of the Constitution and democratic processes.  Former Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council V.R. Sudarshan and Supreme Court advocate Brijesh Kalappa were also present during the meeting.
