Chief Minister holds detailed
discussion with UCO delegation
Chief Minister (CM) D.K. Shivakumar told a delegation of the United Kodava Organization (UKO) that visited him that “Ponnanna is our asset, and we need him”.
A delegation led by United Kodava Organization (UKO) President Kokkalemada Manju Chinnappa met the Chief Minister at his Home Office, Krishna, and urged him to induct A.S. Ponnanna into the State Cabinet. The matter was discussed at length during the meeting.
Speaking to the delegation, the Chief Minister described Ponnanna as an efficient and honest young leader. He said that he had given Ponnanna the election ticket with confidence and had initially expected him to spend at least two days a week in Kodagu after being elected. However, he noted that Ponnanna had exceeded those expectations by dedicating the maximum possible time to the people of Kodagu. Â When Manju Chinnappa strongly requested that Ponnanna be given a ministerial berth, the Chief Minister responded positively, stating, “We are also keen on giving him a ministerial berth. Let us see what happens next. If he becomes a minister, I will be as happy as you are”. Reiterating his confidence in the leader, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar remarked, “Ponnanna is our asset; we need him”.
