Madikeri Taluk Planning and Development Committee Vice-President and former Karike Gram Panchayat President N. Balachandran Nair has urged the State leadership to induct Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna into the Cabinet in the interest of the comprehensive development of Kodagu district and the welfare of the people.

In a press release, Balachandran Nair stated that A.S. Ponnanna has discharged his responsibilities efficiently as the Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor and as an MLA and has earned recognition at both the State and national levels. Through various developmental initiatives, he has established himself as a people-friendly representative with a pro-development approach, he said.

Stating that Ponnanna is capable of holding ministerial responsibility, Balachandran Nair appealed to the Chief Minister to induct him into the Cabinet.

He pointed out that Kodagu district has remained without ministerial representation for several years and expressed confidence that the Congress government, which enjoys a majority in the State, would ensure adequate representation to the district.

He noted that Kodagu has made significant contributions to the State and added that the Congress party had registered a decisive victory in both Assembly constituencies in the district. In keeping with the aspirations of the electorate, he urged the government to appoint A.S. Ponnanna as a Minister and entrust him with the responsibility of District In-charge Minister of Kodagu.
