Students Should Develop Skills Along With Academics: Kodagu University Vice-Chancellor

Kodagu University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ashok Sangappa Alur inaugurated the annual day celebrations of Government First Grade College, Virajpet recently.

Addressing students, he said they are the driving force behind the country’s development and should confidently face the challenges of society after completing their degree education.

He advised students to acquire various skills in addition to academics and to become responsible citizens contributing positively to society.

Retired Principal of Bhagamandala Kaveri Pre-University College, K.J. Diwakar Kundalpady, said students should pursue higher education, prepare for competitive examinations and always treat their parents with respect.

Presiding over the function, Principal Prof. Saraswathi D.K. said students should cultivate values such as honesty, loyalty and integrity. She urged them to maintain a strong bond with their institution and face life’s challenges with courage.

Cultural Committee Convener Prof. K. Basavaraju presented the annual report of the college. Student Welfare Committee Convener Prof. Dayanand K.C. welcomed the gathering and Sports Committee Convener Prof. Guruprasad N. proposed the vote of thanks.

During the programme, third-year B.A. student Kirtana received the Best Student of the Year Award, while Nishan Joseph was honoured with the Best Student Leader Award.

Third-year B.A. student Rasina received the Best Sportsperson Award. Students Manju, Chandrashekar, Puneeth Kumar and Sona Nivita received the Best Cultural Talent Award and were also honoured as outstanding National Service Scheme volunteers.

Prizes were distributed to winners of various cultural and sports competitions, and the college annual magazine “Virajamarga” was released by the dignitaries.
