Diya Bheemaiah, India’s top-seeded junior player, secured the Girls’ Doubles title at the Yonex-Sunrise All India Junior (U-19) Ranking Badminton Tournament 2026. The tournament was held from 3rd to 10th May at the Karnataka Badminton Academy in Vasanth Nagar, Bengaluru.

Partnering with Baruni Paruswal of Haryana, Diya clinched first place by defeating the Tamil Nadu duo of Anushka Jennifer A.S. and Deeshitha Singha in a straight-sets final, with a scoreline of 21-10, 22-20.

International Selection

This victory has earned Diya a direct spot to represent the Indian Junior Team at the upcoming Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2026. The prestigious tournament is scheduled to take place in Yatsushiro, Japan, from 26th June to 5th July.

Furthermore, her performance has secured her a place in the selection process to represent the Indian Junior squad in the Mixed Doubles category as well.

Diya is currently honing her skills at the National Centre of Excellence (Badminton Association of India) in Guwahati, Assam, training under the guidance of International Coach Sri Ivan Andreyevich Suzunov.

Her hard work has already taken her to the global stage, having represented our country at several international tournaments, which includes:

  1. Nepal Junior International Series (Tripureswar, Nepal).
  2. Asia Badminton Championship U-17 (Chengu, China)
  3. Astana International Senior Challenge (Kazakhstan)
  4. Yonex Junior Dutch International Grand Prix Netherlands
  5. Yonex Junior German International Grand Prix in Germany.

Diya has performed consistently, and CLN has closely followed her achievements. As she progresses toward becoming a part of the Indian team, we wish her the very best. She deserves not only applause for her accomplishments, but also the wholehearted support of the community, encouragement and sponsorship.

  1. Ms Diya Bheemaiah needs all the support from the community – in spirit and financially. Performance at that level requires sophisticated sports kits, travel and nutrition. No doubt she is “star” 🌟 material, but we need to help her shine. Wish there was an Olympic Medal Support Group in our Community – Diya would qualify as a prime candidate.

  2. A fantastic achievement and a proud moment for all of us . Diya’s commitment, hard work, and passion towards badminton are truly commendable and inspiring at such a young age. Wishing her all the very best for the upcoming championships and a bright future ahead. May she continue to achieve greater heights and receive all the support and encouragement she truly deserves.
Proud moment for all of us!
