Sainik School Kodagu scripted history by successfully defending their overall championship title for the second consecutive year in the South Zone Intra Group Football Tournament (Group H) for the session 2026–27. Dominating across categories—U-15 Boys, U-17 Girls, and U-17 Boys—the school reaffirmed its supremacy in inter-school football among Sainik and New Sainik Schools.

The tournament concluded with a grand closing ceremony at Sainik School Kodagu. The ceremony commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Col Amar Jeet Singh, Principal, Sainik School Kodagu. Cadet Lavish Kashyap delivered the welcome address, extending greetings to dignitaries and participating teams. The final match between Sainik School Kodagu and Sainik School Kazakootam was keenly contested, with Kodagu clinching a thrilling 3–2 victory.

The Chief Guest awarded participation certificates, medals, trophies and certificates of merit to deserving cadets. In the individual achievers category, cadets of Sainik School Kodagu secured a significant share of accolades. Mr Girish and his team of referees from KSFA were honoured with the school’s memento.

Sainik School Kalikiri finished as runners-up in the U-17 Girls category, while Sainik School Kazakootam secured runners-up positions in both U-15 and U-17 Boys categories.

A brief yet heartening highlight of the tournament was the recognition of the youngest team, New Sainik School Vallabha, Madurai, Tamil Nadu. For their spirited participation and commendable sportsmanship, they were awarded the ‘Cute Warriors Trophy’.

Addressing the gathering, Col Amar Jeet Singh emphasised the importance of discipline in sports, noting that competitive spirit combined with self-discipline is essential for character building among cadets. He then officially declared the tournament closed.

The ceremony concluded with a retreat march. Wg Cdr Mohammad Shaji, Vice Principal, Mrs Divya Singh, Senior Master, escort staff, participating teams from Amaravatinagar, Kalikiri, Kazakootam, Vallabha and Vikasa, along with match officials,
