Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is likely to visit Kodagu district on April 17. Deputy Commissioner S.J. Somashekar has directed officials to undertake necessary preparations.

Chairing a preparatory meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, he stated that the visit may include distribution of site title deeds to Scheduled Tribe families residing in line houses, along with the inauguration of development works and Bhoomi Puja ceremonies.

Officials informed that a survey of landless families has already been conducted. However, due to incomplete documentation in some cases, the Deputy Commissioner instructed field visits to ensure Aadhaar enrolment and issuance of caste and income certificates.

According to officials, a total of 925 sites have been identified across the district to benefit 1,125 Scheduled Tribe families, covering approximately 38 acres of land.      In Virajpet taluk, 124 sites have been identified in Kedamullur, 110 in Kalathmadu, and 448 in Birunani. In Ponnampet taluk, 53 sites have been identified in Balugodu and 190 in Kurchi village.

The Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation has initiated housing construction for eligible beneficiaries through the Scheduled Castes Department.

Addressing concerns over lack of Aadhaar cards among some families, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to organise special Aadhaar camps in the villages and complete documentation within a few days. He emphasised that no delays or excuses would be accepted.

Officials from Revenue, Taluk Panchayat, ITDP, and other departments have been instructed to work in coordination to ensure timely implementation.

Concerns regarding land availability in certain areas, including eco-sensitive zones in Teralu village, were also discussed during the meeting.

Senior officials including G.P. CEO Anand Prakash Meena, Tahsildars, Panchayat officials, and representatives from the Housing Corporation attended the meeting.
