The land acquisition process for the construction of National Highway-275 has commenced. Authorities have proposed the removal of 199 trees, including betel and other species, from government and private lands in Basavanahalli village, Kushalnagar zone, to facilitate the project.
The Forest Department has recommended transporting the felled trees to government depots and disposing of certain species through open auction.
Members of the public have been invited to submit objections, if any, in writing to the Deputy Conservator of Forests, Madikeri Division, by April 15.
Officials stated that if no objections are received within the stipulated period, further action will be taken as per rules.
