Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar performed the groundbreaking ceremony for retaining wall works estimated at ?94 crore along 21 vulnerable stretches of National Highway 275 between Madikeri and Sampaje.
The ceremony was held near Kartoji in Madenadu, Madikeri taluk. The MP stated that the works are being undertaken based on public demand and are expected to be completed within 18 months.
He highlighted the Centre’s focus on infrastructure development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, noting improvements in highways, railway electrification, airport expansion, and skill development initiatives.
Responding to queries regarding road widening at sharp bends, he stated that any further action would be taken cautiously to avoid environmental damage.
Former Minister M.P. Appachu Rajan and several public representatives and officials were present on the occasion.
