The Mukkatira (Devanageri) family will host the Kodava Football Festival from April 7 to 12, 2026, at Athlon Grounds in Gonikoppal, bringing together Kodava families for a week-long celebration of sport, unity and tradition.
Inspired by the legacy and success of the iconic Kodava Hockey Festival, the football festival aims to create a similar platform for fostering community bonding and encouraging youth participation in sports. The event seeks to strengthen the sporting culture of Kodagu while celebrating the region’s growing passion for football, often referred to as the “Beautiful Game.”
Around 100 teams are expected to participate in the inter-family knockout tournament, showcasing competitive spirit combined with camaraderie. With only a few registration slots remaining, organisers anticipate an enthusiastic response from families across the district and beyond.
In addition to the matches, the festival will feature cultural programmes, traditional cuisine and community interactions, promising a vibrant and memorable experience for participants and spectators alike.
