During his visit, MLA A.S. Ponnanna interacted with students at Golikatte Government Higher Primary School and briefly taught classes.
He questioned Class 6 and 7 students on subjects including the Land Reforms Act and encouraged them to study sincerely. He emphasised that despite low enrolment, the government has ensured that schools remain functional and continue to provide midday meals, uniforms and other facilities.
The MLA explained constitutional values, fundamental rights and duties to the students. He appreciated Yashasvi, Aditya and Kavya for answering his questions.
Addressing reporters later, he stated that the old school building, which is in a dilapidated condition, will be demolished. He noted that around 400 students studied there during the 1970s and reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening public education.
Teachers Komala and Balakrishna highlighted the impact of Covid on enrolment and requested construction of a compound wall.
