Deputy Commissioner S.J. Somashekar has directed the formation of sub-committees to accelerate development works at Raja’s Seat and Coorg Village.
Reviewing Coorg Village, Vice President of the Kodagu District Chamber of Commerce and Industry Naveen Ambekallu said the project was developed at a cost of Rs 98 lakh and suggested that focus should instead be placed on improving Raja Seat.
Deputy Director of Horticulture Shashidhar stated that although shops were earlier planned for self-help groups and departments, there were no takers, and plans are now underway to establish an art gallery and additional facilities.
Monti Ganesh suggested better utilisation of Coorg Village and development of Nehru Mantapa. The Deputy Commissioner instructed that a sub-committee comprising representatives from the Municipal Council, Horticulture Department, Assistant Commissioner’s Office, Traffic Police and the public be formed to oversee Raja Seat development.
He also said the issue of the miniature train at Raja Seat would be discussed with Mysuru Railway officials for early action.
Members expressed concern over the delay in completing the Kodava Heritage Centre, noting that the issue has been discussed for several years without progress.
