For the first time, a Kodava-language film has been officially shortlisted for the prestigious Indian Panorama section at IFFI.
The documentary “Ummathat – The Rhythm of Kodava”, which captures the essence of the indigenous Kodava art form Ummathat, has earned this significant national recognition. The film has been produced and presented by National Awardee Kottukathira Prakash Kariappa.

As part of the Indian Panorama screenings, the documentary will be showcased at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa at 4.30 pm on 25 November.
Mukkatira Shilpa Nanjappa has made key contributions to the project by lending her voice for the narration, undertaking research, and preparing the subtitles, adding depth and authenticity to this culturally significant documentary.
