Journalists’ Sankranti Cricket Tournament Inaugurated in Madikeri

Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor and Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna inaugurated the Journalists’ Sankranti Celebration Cricket Tournament at the General Thimmaiah District Sports Complex, emphasizing the importance of sports for journalists’ physical and mental well-being.

Addressing the gathering, Ponnanna said journalists play a central role in society by informing the public and driving social change. He urged society and the government to ensure journalists’ welfare.

MLC  M.P. Sujakushalappa, State Guarantee Scheme Vice-President S.R. Mehroz Khan, senior advocate H.S. Chandramoula, and businessman Napanda Muthappa also addressed the gathering.

Several senior officials, public representatives, journalists, and association members attended the event. Suresh Biligeri welcomed the gathering, while Vinod Moodagadde compered the programme.

 

Suggie Team Wins Sankranti Cricket Tournament 

The Suggie team emerged victorious in the Sankranti Celebration Cricket Tournament organized by the Kodagu Journalists Association and its Welfare Development Committee at the General Thimmaiah District Stadium.

 In the final, Suggie defeated the Siri team by 15 runs. In an exhibition match, the Officers’ team led by Assistant Commissioner Nitin Chikki defeated the People’s Representatives’ team by 45 runs.

Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony, association leaders highlighted the welfare initiatives undertaken for journalists, including financial assistance during medical emergencies.

Awards were presented to outstanding performers, including Man of the Series Khalil (Siri team) and Best Batsman Vivek Mogera (Suggie team).
