Kodandera Mamatha Subbaiah
Kundath Bottt still stands tallest, green, ancient and dignified. But at its foothills, kunda village is slowly being choked to death. Not by nature but human greed and official apathy.
Barely 50 meters from the sacred Kaimudikey mandh .an existing TAR plant has turned what was once a peaceful, healthy village into a zone of toxic air, suffocating odour, dust clouds and relentless noise. This is not Development. This is environmental violence carried out in plain sight.
Villagers here no longer speak of comfort, they speak of survival. Headaches, breathing discomfort, burning eyes and sleepless nights have become routine.
Parents worry about what their children are inhaling everyday. The elderly fear Long term damage to already fragile health with the AQ quality unhealthy for sensitive groups.
Equally alarming is the location of the plant..How did permission come to be granted so close to a place of worship and human habitation? Were environmental norms bent , bypassed or blatantly violated? These are questions authorities have chosen not to answer.
What angers the residents of Kunda the most is not just pollution, but silence. Complaints have been raised, voices have been heard by everyone except those in power.
The continued operation of the plant despite mounting evidence of harm raises an unavoidable question .

Who is protecting the polluters of Kunda village?
The people of Kunda are no longer asking politely. They are demanding answers.
- Who granted permission?
- Who ignored repeated violations ?.
- Who ensured operations despite public protests?
- Who benefits from silence?
Until these questions are answered transparently, every speech on environmental protection and good governance rings hollow.
The people of kunda refuse to be silent any longer.
Kunda village must not become another forgotten sacrifice and unchecked industrial arrogance. Having exhausted petitions, representatives, and appeals ,residents have issued a strong warning: if the issue is not resolved permanently, they are prepared to boycott upcoming elections.
