The Murnadu Hobli unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad celebrated World Human Day in a meaningful manner at Kavimane Kavishaila in Kuppalli, Shivamogga district-the birthplace of national poet Kuvempu.
Led by unit president Eeramanda Harini Vijay, office bearers, members, and literature enthusiasts paid floral tributes at the samadhi of Kuvempu at Kavishaila.
Addressing the gathering, Harini Vijay recalled Kuvempu as a great national poet who conveyed the message of universal humanism and brought the Jnanpith Award to Karnataka for the first time. She said Kuvempu’s literature had earned him a permanent place in the hearts of Kannadigas and described him as a towering figure beyond caste and social divisions.
She emphasized that education, culture, and civilization possess the power to transform humanity by transcending boundaries of nation, language, religion, caste, race, and colour. Becoming a true human being, she said, should be everyone’s responsibility. For the world to survive and flourish, future generations must imbibe the values of universal humanism, she added, expressing hope that Kuvempu’s ideals would continue to inspire peace and harmony across communities.
She also expressed gratitude to the office bearers and members of the Murnadu Hobli unit for choosing the poet’s birthplace to observe World Human Day.
