First-Edition Books Invited for State-Level Selection

The Public Library Department, in accordance with the Registration of Books Act, has invited publishers to submit three copies of first-edition books printed and published in 2025 for consideration by the State-Level Book Selection Committee.   Publishers are required to submit three copies of each title, free of cost, to the State Central Library, Cubbon Park, Bengaluru, and complete registration by 5.30 pm on January 31. Of the three copies submitted, one copy will be considered for selection. Only books registered within the stipulated deadline will be considered, and books registered after the last date will not be accepted.

Books published for the first time in 2025 in English, Hindi or any other language in other States must be compulsorily registered in the respective State Central Libraries or authorised registration centres notified by the Central or State Governments. Such books must be submitted to the State Central Library along with a copy of the registration certificate and one copy of the book by 5.30 pm on January 31. Books submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

Books in all languages under the categories of literature, children’s literature, art and science are eligible for submission. Details regarding provisions and guidelines for selection can be obtained from the concerned office.

No books will be accepted separately at the Commissioner’s Office for the selection process. Authors, author-publishers and publishing houses wishing to submit books must strictly adhere to the Registration of Books Act and submit copies to the State Central Library within the prescribed period.
