Cheppudira team wins ‘Levista Kodava Hockey Champions Trophy Tournament

In the final match of the ‘Levista Kodava Hockey Champions Trophy Tournament which was organized by Kodava Hockey Academy on the occasion of the celebration of the silver jubilee of the Kodva Family Hockey Festival, the Cheppudira team emerged as champions and won the trophy, while the Kulletira team won the second place.

In the final match between Cheppudira and Kulletira at the Lalu Muddaya Stadium in Bachetira, Murnadu, the Cheppudira team won by a margin of 1-0. Somanna of Cheppudira team scored winning  goal.

The winning  team Cheppudira  received Rs. 2 lakh. The second place which was won by Kulleti team received Rs. 1 lakh. The semifinalists from Mandepanda and Kuppanda recived Rs. 50 thousand each. The remaining 8 teams recived Rs. 25 thousand each. Prizes and mementos were awarded.

The best goalkeeper from Kulletira was Vachan Kalappa, the best forward from Cheppudira was Chethan Chinnappa, the best defender from Mandepanda was Bhuvan Nanaiah, the best midfielder from Kuppanda was Somaiah, the best up-coming player from Cheppudira was Lennon Madappa and the best player of the tournament was Cheppudira Mandanna.

In the five-day tournament, the 12 teams that had won the first and second places in the last twenty-five years of the Kodava Family Hockey Festival competed for the award.
