The Indian robin (Copsychus fulicatus) is a passerine bird widespread in the Indian subcontinent. The males of the north have brown backs whose extent gradually reduces southwards having all-black backs. The long tail is usually held up and the chestnut undertail coverts.

They are sexually dimorphic in plumage. Males are generally blackish, have a white shoulder patch and a relatively long tail. Females have completely brown upper-parts, snowwhite shoulder patch, and have grayish-brown underparts.
They are generally seen in pairs, in open scrub areas and seen running along the ground or perching on low thorny shrubs and rocks. Found in open country, at forest edges, around human habitation, and in scrub lands.
