As part of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Day celebrations, the NCC unit of Sainik School Kodagu successfully organised a large-scale cleanliness drive – today at the premises of the Harangi Reservoir near Kushalnagar. The programme, aimed at promoting environmental conservation and enhancing the beauty of the reservoir, saw enthusiastic participation from students, who set an example for the public.

A total of 171 NCC cadets from the school and five NCC officers actively took part in the drive. Gathering at the reservoir premises early in the morning, the students cleaned up various kinds of waste left behind by visitors. Plastic bottles, polythene bags, paper, and other discarded materials that had accumulated in the Harangi area over a long period were collected.

The students and officers scientifically segregated the waste and systematically stored it for proper disposal. Along with contributing to the cleanliness of the reservoir, the initiative also provided the students with practical knowledge about waste management.

The initiative was carried out under the active guidance and encouragement of the school’s visionary leaders—Principal Colonel Amar Jeet Singh, Administrative Officer Wing Commander P. Prakash Rao, and Vice Principal & NCC Commanding Officer Squadron Leader Muhammad Shaji. The programme reflected the school’s commitment to educating students about environmental and social responsibility.

Lieutenant Vibin Kumar, F/O Manjappa G.K., F/O Venkata Ramana Y., T/O Pratibha Kalyani, Subedar Balbir Singh, and Havildar Praveen Pakale were also present during the drive.

Tourists and local residents at Harangi Reservoir appreciated the efforts and hard work of the school’s students, praising the initiative wholeheartedly.
