14 November is Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday. Children’s Day is observed on his birth anniversary in India in recognition of his deep affection for children.
Teaching children from a very young age is widely recognised as one of the most effective ways to shape their future – ideal for developing value systems and character. Early childhood is a period of rapid brain development, when children absorb information easily, habit formation is swift, and develop character traits that stay with them throughout life. Guidance given during these formative years helps build a strong foundation in language, behaviour, values, and learning skills. The phrase “catch them young” reflects this theme.
In the recent past, CLN has brought out many articles on Education and there is ongoing engaging series on Career Guidance. To lighten the seriousness of the discourse we thought that we would dedicate the popular song Teach Your Children by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young on this day. Best wishes to Children and the “child” in Parents alike! – CLN Newsdesk
You, who are on the road
Must have a code you try to live by
And so become yourself Because the past is just a goodbye
Teach your children well
Their father’s hell did slowly go by
Feed them on your dreams
The one they pick’s the one you’ll know by
Don’t you ever ask them why
If they told you, you would cry
So just look at them and sigh And know they love you
And you, of tender years
Can’t know the fears your elders grew by
Help them with your youth They seek the truth before they can die
Teach your parents well
Their children’s hell will slowly go by
And feed them on your dreams The one they pick’s the one you’ll know by
Don’t you ever ask them why
If they told you, you would cry
So just look at them and sigh And know they love you.
