Guidance from parents and teachers is crucial for nurturing children’s active and creative potential, said A.S. Ponnanna, Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor and MLA, while appreciating the achievements of student Sinchana, who set three world records in yoga.
Speaking at a felicitation ceremony held at BGS School auditorium, Madenadu, Ponnanna lauded Sinchana’s accomplishments, achieved with the blessings of Paramapujya Jagadguru Srimanniranjana Pranava Swaroopi Srividha Dasohi Bhairavaikya Sri Dr. Balagangadharanath Mahaswamiji.
He praised the BGS Institute for its emphasis on providing quality education and healthcare to rural and underprivileged students, noting that the institution consistently contributes to the overall progress of society. “Sinchana’s dedication and determination are exemplary. Her parents and teachers have played a key role in her success,” he said.
MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda emphasised that children who receive proper guidance from a young age grow up to be responsible citizens. “Students should be encouraged to set goals and work with perseverance. Parents and teachers have an important role in shaping their future,” he said.
Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanath Mahaswamiji, Head of the Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthan Math, explained the significance of yoga and the discipline required to master it. “Yoga helps remove inner turmoil and purifies the mind. With focus and respect for the practice, anyone can achieve success,” he said.
Basavaraju, Deputy Director of the Department of School Education, highlighted the importance of yoga in reducing mental stress and encouraged students to participate actively in both curricular and extracurricular activities.

Dr. Manish Vaishnoi, Chief Judge of the Asia Head Golden Book of World Records, confirmed that Sinchana had officially entered the Golden Book by performing yoga under challenging conditions.
Yoga teacher Mahesh Kumar congratulated the student, emphasising that yoga unites the body and mind and promotes peace and well-being. “Ancient India has contributed immensely to yoga, which continues to benefit humanity,” he said.
Sinchana, a 6th-grade student at BGS School, Madenadu, achieved three Golden Book of World Records titles:
- Holding the Khandapidasa pose for 1 minute 44 seconds,
- Completing 15 rotations in Dimbasana within one minute, surpassing the target of 10, and
- Performing 18 rotations in Dhanurasana in a minute – setting an international record.
The event was attended by Pujya Sri Someshwarnath Swamiji, Field Education Officer Mahesh, the student’s parents, and several dignitaries.
