Kodagu has witnessed two phenomenal “community movements” in the past year. Kodavamme Balo Nadp was a soul stirring expression of reasserting the identity of the the Kodavas and Kodavaame in a peaceful, disciplined and inclusive manner. It was a reaffirmation by all Kodavas and Kodava Bhashikas of the Kodava way-of-live in Kodagu.
The second phenomenal success of Swach Kodagu – Sundara Kodagu by COHERA, with the full support of the District Administration was a testimony to the resolve of all the residents of Kodagu to keep our Sacred Landscape clean and free of Garbage. This needs to be sustained.
What is staring at us in the face now, is to control tourism in a responsible manner and undertake the regreening of our forests and plantations. If our forests are managed properly, hopefully the human-animal conflict will reduce.
