During the prize distribution, a scuffle broke out on stage, leading to chaotic scenes where police personnel were pushed off. A DySP and a constable sustained injuries in the incident, and one accused person was taken into custody on the same day.

District Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan stated, “The act was carried out by a group of about 30 to 40 individuals. A case has been registered against all of them, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the culprits. Strict action will be taken against those involved”.

Dasamantapa Committee President B. M. Harish Anvekar said that this year’s Madikeri Dasara Janotsava had been conducted successfully with the cooperation of the public, elected representatives, temple committees, and officials. However, he noted that the committee members were deeply saddened by the incident that occurred during the prize announcement on Vijayadashami. On behalf of the Dasamantapa Committee, he extended an apology to everyone.

The Committee issued a statement apologizing to the District Administration, the Police Department, the Town Dasara Committee, and the Department of Kannada and Culture. They acknowledged the police for performing their duties with utmost responsibility and expressed gratitude to the officers and staff who prioritized public safety. The Committee also regretted any inconvenience caused directly or indirectly by the Dasamantapa  Committee and assured that necessary precautionary measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

They further stated that collective discussions and consultations would be held to ensure that future editions of the Madikeri Nadahabba Dasara are conducted peacefully and without disturbance. New methods will be considered for the prize selection process, and the consent of all Dasamantapa Committees will be obtained before implementing such measures, said President B. M. Harish Anvekar in the statement.
