Tasmai Cariappa Monnanda, a young and promising motorsport racer from Kodagu, has been making waves in both national and international racing circuits with his remarkable performances and consistent podium finishes.
Born on August 5, 2002, Tasmai is the son of Dr. Nalini Monnanda Somaiah, Professor, Department of Botany, University of Mysore. He completed his schooling at St. Joseph’s Higher Primary School, Madikeri, and Cauvery School, Mysore, followed by Pre-University at Sri Gopalaswamy PU College, Mysore, securing 89.98% in PCME. He later graduated with a BCA degree from NIE Degree College, Mysore, with a CGPA of 8.6.
A rising star in Indian motorsports, Tasmai has demonstrated exceptional talent, determination, and versatility across multiple racing formats. In INMRC 2023, he competed in the Stock up to 165cc category, achieving three podium finishes out of nine races. His performance in drag racing was equally impressive, winning the Elite Octane INC Drag Racing 2023 (4-Stroke above 750cc category) and finishing as Runner-up at the VROOM Drag Meet 9th Edition.
Continuing his fine form, Tasmai secured nine podiums in ten races during INMRC 2024, including two wins, six second-place finishes, and one third-place finish, earning him the Runner-up Champion title in the National Championship. He further proved his consistency in the KMS Motorcycle Cup 2024, securing podium finishes in both his races.
Tasmai’s achievements reached new heights when he represented India in the 400cc SP400 category at the BRIC Superbike Championship 2025, held at Chang International Circuit, Thailand, one of Asia’s premier motorcycle racing events. Competing against top international riders, he finished second, becoming only the fourth Indian ever to reach the podium in this prestigious event.
He also holds the distinction of being the first and only Kodava to race and win a podium at an international motorcycle racing event.
In 2025, he added another feather to his cap by winning in the 250cc dirt bike category at the Bigrock Dirt Park Trial Attack, underscoring his adaptability across racing disciplines.
Making his mark on the international stage, Tasmai won Round 1 and Round 2 of the BRIC SP Superbike 400cc category at Chang International Circuit, Buriram, Thailand, held during June and August 2025, followed by a first-place finish in Round 3 held from September 26 to 28, 2025, in Thailand
With his consistent success and dedication, Tasmai Cariappa is emerging as one of India’s most promising young racers. His ultimate goal is to represent India on the global stage and bring pride to the nation through his racing achievements.
