The Kodagu Deputy Commissioner has ordered the formation of a team to conduct a survey of crops damaged due to heavy rains, drought, natural disasters, extreme weather conditions, and other causes in Kodagu district for the year 2025-26. The team will carry out a joint survey to determine the extent of damage village-wise and hobli-wise, and submit a report to enable compensation for the affected farmers.
The team comprises the Joint Director of the Agriculture Department, the Deputy Director of the Horticulture Department, the Deputy Director of the Coffee Board, Virajpet, and the Tahsildars of Madikeri, Somwarpet, Virajpet, Kushalnagar, and Ponnampet taluks.
This team will conduct joint spot inspections of crop damage with officials of the concerned departments along with the Revenue Department and submit an accurate report with photographs. Taluk-level teams will be formed in collaboration with these departments, and the consolidated report must be submitted to the respective Tahsildar’s office by October 6.
D C Dr. Venkat Raja also stated that the Deputy Director of the Horticulture Department, Kodagu District, Madikeri, will conduct a survey of coffee crop damage as well as assess damage to black pepper crops and submit a detailed report.
