Ajjikuttira S. Ponnanna, Virajpet MLA and Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor, inaugurated eight new routes and eight new buses from the Virajpet KSRTC bus stand. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that with rapid urbanisation and population growth, there was a need to provide convenient transport facilities. He added that the new routes and buses had been introduced for public convenience and called upon the people to make full use of them.
He stated that to ease congestion for passengers travelling to and from the fast-growing Virajpet municipality and surrounding areas, the addition of new routes and eight new buses was made possible through his efforts. On the occasion, he urged KSRTC staff to treat passengers politely and work with dedication to enhance the reputation of the organisation.The MLA also highlighted that the Karnataka State Congress Government’s free bus travel scheme for women had greatly benefited the women of the state.
The event was attended by District Guarantee Implementation Authority Chairman Dharmaja Uthappa, Taluk Guarantee Implementation Chairman Johnson, Virajpet Municipality Chief Officer Nachappa, Vice Chairman Fascia Tabsum, members, taluk magistrates and officials, Government Nominating Committee members, invited dignitaries, KSRTC officials and staff, along with a large number of members of the public and students.
