Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar has announced that the Central Government has released Rs 712 crore for various improvement measures on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, a vital link between the state capital and the cultural capital. In a media release, the MP stated that the funds will facilitate several public utility projects, including new entry and exit points, a railway bridge, underpasses, overpasses, service roads, and other facilities.
A flyover is planned at the congested Manipal Hospital Junction, where the ten-lane highway terminates. Public complaints regarding this bottleneck had been frequent, and MP Wodeyar confirmed that action was taken after escalating the matter to the Centre. He emphasized the government’s intent to make the expressway “more useful for the people” and expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for releasing the funds. He further assured that the BJP government would continue to implement public welfare schemes in the future.
