Leaders of the Arebhashe Community met Ajjikuttira S. Ponnanna, Legal Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister and MLA from Virajpet constituency, at his office in Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru, to express their gratitude for his assurance to sanction a grant of Rs 1 crore for the construction of a community hall for the Bhagamandala Gowda Samaja, as promised recently by the MLA. Speaking on the occasion, Surtale Somanna, a leader of the Arebhashe Gowda Samaja, recalled that during the previous tenure of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, a grant of Rs. 75 lakh had been provided to the Gowda Samaja. “It has always been the Congress Party that has extended support to our Arebhashe Gowda Samaja,” he stated.
The Kodagu Gowda Samaj – Madikeri, representing the Arebhashe Gowda community of Kodagu district, submitted a request seeking allocation of 13 acres of vacant land in Survey No. 98/1, revenue land of Madenadu village, for the establishment of a cultural, educational, and sports centre. Responding positively, the MLA informed the leaders that he had placed the proposal before the Cabinet and assured them that approval would be granted in the coming days.
The delegation also submitted several other key demands, to which the MLA responded by assuring that each request would be reviewed and necessary action taken. On the occasion, Kodagu District Congress President Tithira Dharmaja Uthappa, and community leaders Somanna, Girish, B.S. Anand, Rajendra, Ananth Kumar, Vasanth, Sandeep, Seetharam, Damayanti, and others were present.
