Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja chaired a District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meeting, issuing strict instructions to officials to stay alert until the end of August, despite a temporary lull in rainfall. Highlighting the need for vigilance against natural disasters, the Deputy Commissioner instructed nodal officers, tahsildars, and engineers to ensure safety measures are in place, particularly in Anganwadis, schools, and government buildings.
Potentially dangerous trees should be identified and reported to the Forest Department in advance. Public Works and Panchayat Raj engineers were directed to repair potholes and assess rain damage. Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan recommended setting up forest check posts in sensitive areas like Anechaukur and Maldare to improve monitoring.
CESC engineers were tasked with adding poles and transformers where necessary to ensure uninterrupted power supply. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya, CESC Engineer Ramachandra, tahsildars, taluk executive officers, and officials from various departments.
