Coffee Growers Demand Release of Crop Damage Compensation

Coffee Board member Talur A. Kishore Kumar has demanded that Kodagu’s MLAs take urgent action to release crop damage compensation to coffee growers and farmers. In a press release, he criticized the MLAs for merely submitting petitions instead of pressuring the state government to release the central NDRF funds already sanctioned.

Kishore Kumar compared the current inaction to the BJP government’s tenure, during which former MLAs K.G. Bopaiah and M.P. Appachu Ranjan facilitated compensation of Rs 50,000 and Rs 57,000 per farmer over two years. He alleged that since the Congress came to power, no financial assistance has reached farmers. He demanded that MLAs ensure compensation is released immediately.
