Eight Asha Kirana Vision Centres Inaugurated in Kodagu

Under the National Blindness Eradication Program, eight Asha Kirana Vision Centres were inaugurated in Kodagu district, including at the Medical College Hospital in Madikeri and various Community Health Centres.

Dr. Anand, the district program officer, announced that since April, 4,750 individuals were screened in Kodagu. Of these, 851 were provided free eyeglasses, and 114 underwent free cataract surgeries.

The initiative was launched simultaneously across 393 centres in Karnataka, with the aim of providing free eye screenings, cataract surgeries, and referrals for diabetic retinopathy. Local doctors including Dr. Madhusudhan (Kushalnagar), Dr. Shivaprasad, Dr. Kiran, and other medical professionals participated in the program across various taluks.
