Observing World Day Against Child Labour, Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja emphasized the critical role of parents in shaping children’s futures and called for stronger focus on education and extracurricular development.

The event, held at the Zilla Panchayat Hall, was jointly organized by multiple departments and social organizations. Officials encouraged reporting child labour through the helpline 1098 and advocated for daily awareness drives in rural areas.

District Legal Services Authority Secretary Shubha stressed the importance of moral and value-based education, urging families to create supportive environments at home.

Additional SP Dinesh Kumar said government welfare schemes must reach underprivileged children, while Labor Officer T. Kaveri revealed that 22 child labourers and 50 adolescent workers had been identified in inspections since 2017. Of them, 32 have been rehabilitated. Children who overcame child labour and excelled in academics were felicitated with certificates and cash awards. A Yakshagana performance raised awareness about child rights.
